On their way to the tournament, the Protagonist and Kureha met Itsuki, one of the top players in GGO, whom they later crossed paths with inside the tournament map. After introducing them to GGO and explaining the basics, Kureha led the way to the tournament area, where both of them were to participate together as a team. As she looked different from her real life persona and had a different name, the girl introduced herself as Kureha, the Protagonist's childhood friend. Moments later, they were greeted by a girl in a pink outfit, who apologized for being late due to the tournament registration taking longer than she had expected.
